The exam is provided by The Project Management Institute (PMI)® which must be arranged after you have completed the required 35 contact hours.
The most coveted PMP Certification Exam takes the following format:
- 200 multiple choice questions
- Duration – 4 hours with no scheduled breaks
- A calculator is provided (you may not bring your own)
- As it’s a CBT (Computer Based Test), you will find out your score before you leave the test center
The pass mark is not set. It depends on how you answer questions that are of varying levels of difficulty. Please do not confuse the pass mark with being 61%; it was previously 61% but is no longer a set percentage.
The exam covers 5 key areas in Project Management. The percentages detail what percentage of the questions are covered in each area:
- Initiating (13%)
- Planning (24%)
- Executing (31%)
- Monitoring and Controlling (25%)
- Closing (7%)
